Car Wash Fundraiser, 2008 In conjunction with Venice 2000

About the H.E.L.P.E.R.S. Car Wash Fundraisers

These are photos of just one of the carwashes that Venice 2000 hosts to help families in the community that have lost a family member through any form of death. They are very helpful for the families. This is truly what community is all about! Beautiful people helping one another.

Annual Senior (Citizens) Prom, November 22, 2008 In conjunction with Venice 2000

About the Annual Senior Prom 2008

The photos above are from our SENIOR PROM 2008 that was held on November 22, 2008. It is an event for our Senior Citizens and was the 5th one held. This event is to show our respect and love for our elders in the Venice/Oakwood area. This year half of the funding came from the Venice Neighborhood Council and was a huge help. Dinner is served to the music of an awesome DJ we have used since the beginning. He puts on a wonderful show and is a senior himself.(Being in the DJ business for 40 years)There are also gifts, raffles, recognition, and lots of fun by everyone attending.. We will be announcing our next Senior Prom for 2009 on this Web site.

The pictures were taken by a photographer France Fagin. We would like to thank the City Councilman and President of Venice Neighborhood Council for attending. Slide presentation created by cary@carydesigns.info.

Intervention Forum, Board of Directors Fundraiser & Our 1st Handball Tournament, 2008 In conjunction with Venice 2000

H.E.L.P.E.R.S. Intervention Programs & Fundraisers

The 2006 COMMUNITY INTERVENTION FORUM was held in July and was a Forum to familiarize the community of the functions, programs, and finances of Venice 2000. We also introduced the staff and some of the youth who participate in our programs. The Forum was attended by the community, City Council staff, seniors, V2K Board members, collaboratives with Venice 2000, supporters from outside of Venice including Playa Vista Staff who hosted this event, and our wonderful youth.

The 1st BACKHAND FOR PEACE HANDBALL TOURNAMENT was held in June 2008. This tournament was held to recognize the sport that is enjoyed by our Brown brothers. During the existence of Venice 2000 we have had basketball tournaments each year that different agencies from neighborhoods from around West and Central Los Angeles competed. The last one, it's sixth, was held in February, was won by the Venice 2000 team. This year one of our staff George Avalos began the tournament handball competition. The tournament was held at Venice Beach and families from communities around Los Angeles came to enjoy the competition. The day was enjoyed by all. We look forward to each tournament. By the way, the Venice 2000 team won this one too!
